Training his guns on the Congress government, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has alleged that the Congress dispensation has given its consent for the Centre’s proposal to install electricity meters to the agricultural pumpsets in Telangana. The persons at the helm in the Congress government in Telangana okayed the proposal in New Delhi, he alleged at a huge public meeting christened “Praja Ashirwada Sabha” held in Jagtial town late on Monday evening.

The meeting was organised to mark the joining of former minister T. Jeevan Reddy and several other Congress local leaders in the BRS. Flanked by Mr. Jeevan Reddy and a host of senior BRS leaders, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao, in his inimitable style, tore into the ruling Congress party accusing it of hoodwinking all sections of people by failing to deliver on its electoral promises.

“We have opposed the move of Narendra Modi government at the Centre to install electricity meters in Telangana during our BRS government in the past. We did not allow setting up such meters to protect the interests of farmers,” he said, adding: “Let us wage a struggle to stall the detrimental proposal agreed upon by the Congress dispensation in Telangana.”
