The complaint alleged a total wrongful loss of ₹19,694.33 crore to 17 public sector banks/ financial institutions. “Investigation has so far revealed that RCom Ltd. entered into circuitous transactions through shell entities controlled by the company’s officials and also got discounted LCs (Letters of Credit) opened for “bogus service-related transactions with its group entities, which got devolved, causing huge loss to the banks,” the agency said.

“D. Vishwanath, joint president of RCom, was the overall in-charge of banking operations of the group, and it was on his directions that the misutilisation of funds was carried out,” it alleged, adding that Mr. Vishwanath had coordinated with banks for sanction and disbursal of the facilities to the company.
