Unseasonal rain had damaged crops across several districts of Maharashtra in recent weeks, followed by a rise in temperature and a reported heatstroke death of a rickshaw driver in Akola. The Chief Minister’s Office has now issued a forecast of rain with winds and thunder in parts of the State between April 20 and April 22.
The Chief Minister’s Office said in a tweet that weather patterns are likely to change in many parts of Maharashtra over the coming days. Rain with winds is predicted between April 20 and April 22.
In the Ghat regions of Western Maharashtra, Khandesh, Marathwada, and some parts of Vidarbha, skies are expected to turn overcast in the afternoons. This may lead to rain with thunder. Lightning, gusty winds, and hailstorms in some locations are also possible during this period.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast partly cloudy skies for Mumbai and its suburbs. Temperatures are expected to remain moderate through the day. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 24 degrees Celsius.
For April 19, the forecast indicates rain with winds in the afternoon in the Ghat regions of Western Maharashtra, parts of North Khandesh, and South Marathwada. On April 20 and 21, the rainfall zone is expected to expand. Rain with winds is likely in Western Maharashtra (Pune Division), Marathwada (southern parts and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Division), and Vidarbha (Amravati Division). On April 22, the area and intensity of the rain are expected to decrease.
