The Tenali Three Town police on Sunday (April 19, 2026) arrested a man on charges of running an extortion racket through an illegal app, in which women lured victims over video calls by posing naked.
“The arrested accused had joined two women in running the app, which was being operated from elsewhere,” said Guntur district Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal.
During investigation, it was revealed that a woman from Tenali joined the app with the help of another woman from Edupugallu in Krishna district, said Tenali Deputy Superintendent of Police Janardhan Rao. “The women joined the app using fake IDs and were luring victims over video calls by posing naked. Organisers paid them ₹500 or ₹1,000 for each call,” the DSP added.
“We are trying to determine the origin of the app, identify the organisers, establish how long the app has been in existence, trace how the money was being routed and paid to the women, and gather other related details,” Mr. Vakul Jindal said.
Special teams with Tenali Three Town, IT Core and Cybercrime police have been constituted to further investigate the case, the SP added.
