Andhra Pradesh Minister for Minority Welfare N Md. Farooq has formally flagged off the second batch of Haj pilgrims from Gannavaram airport, marking another phase in the State’s arrangements for the annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. A total of 177 pilgrims departed as part of the final batch on Sunday (April 19, 2026).

Addressing the pilgrims at a meeting held at the SM Convention Centre in Gannavaram, the Minister conveyed his best wishes and expressed hope that their sacred journey to Mecca and Medina would be completed safely and successfully.

He stated that the State Government had made comprehensive arrangements to ensure a smooth and comfortable pilgrimage for all pilgrims. Emphasising the government’s commitment to the welfare of Muslim minorities, he said special care had been taken to provide quality accommodation, hygienic food, and seamless travel facilities.

Highlighting the facilities provided, Mr. Farooq said elaborate arrangements had been made to ensure the pilgrims face no inconvenience. He appreciated the catering teams for their dedicated service and noted that tight security arrangements had been put in place with the support of the police department. He also assured that Haj Committee members would remain available round-the-clock to provide medical and logistical assistance.
