Opposition parties are likely to write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to implement the women’s reservation law of 2023 immediately by delinking it from the delimitation process.
On Saturday (April 18, 2026) morning, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge presided a meeting of the floor leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc in which the issued was discussed.
INDIA bloc leaders discussed its strategy to counter the BJP’s offensive that the Opposition parties were anti-women. They also held discussions about holding press conferences across the country to say that they support women’s reservation and that the government was trying to change the political map of the country under the guise of the quota law.
During the meeting, sources said all leaders congratulated one another and Congress Parliamentary Party Sonia Gandhi thanked the allies.
