The Communist Party of India (CPI) leader, who was suspended for allegedly working against Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate and General Education Minister V. Sivankutty in the Nemom constituency during the assembly elections, denied the allegation levelled against him.
V.S. Sulochanan, the CPI district council member and former Ambalathara ward councillor in Thiruvananthapuram, has been suspended from the party after an audio clip reportedly of his voice speaking to a BJP worker in an attempt to extend support to the rival candidate surfaced.
However, speaking to the media, Mr. Sulochanan said he has been working for the party for over four decades, and he cannot act against the LDF candidate in the Nemom constituency. He also added that he came to know about the disciplinary action only through the media and has not received any official communication from the party leadership.
There was an allegation that he was conspicuous by his absence during the LDF election campaign. However, he retorted that the truth will become clear after the counting of votes on May 4. Although there was a difference of opinion between him and the Minister over some local developmental issues when he was a councillor in Ambalathara ward, there was no personal enmity between him and the Minister, he told the media.
