April 17 (UPI) -- Lee Cronin's The Mummy, a new film reimagining the classic horror monster, opens in theaters Friday.
Inspired by the character created by Universal Studios, this Mummy stars Jack Reynor and Laia Costa as Charlie and Larissa, a couple whose daughter Katie (Natalie Grace) returns home years after she went missing in the desert.
Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise) directs the feature, with James Wan and Jason Blum among the producers.
The Mummy has been brought to the big screen numerous times, including as a 1932 film starring Boris Karloff and a 1999 movie starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. Here's a list of 10 other films and TV series about monsters:
