The Centre and the Opposition are sparring over the issue of delimitation, sparked by the introduction of the Delimitation Bill in Parliament.
Delimitation is the process of redrawing boundaries of Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies to ensure equal representation based on population.
The Opposition parties have raised concerns that several States are set to lose their relative strength when the composition of the Lok Sabha is reapportioned among States according to 2011 Census figures. The Centre, however, has dismissed such claims.
