Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport saw a minor ground collision when a SpiceJet aircraft arriving from Leh clipped the tail of an Akasa Air plane.
The DGCA is investigating the event. Both aircraft have been grounded for enquiry as well as investigations, the two airlines said in their press statements.
A DGCA statement said that the winglet, the tip of the wing, of SpiceJet’s Boeing 737-700 aircraft hit the tail of Akasa’s Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
At the time, SpiceJet’s aircraft was taxiing to the parking bay after arriving from Leh, while Akasa’s Boeing 737 aircraft had pushed back from its parking stand and was standing stationery for operating a flight to Hyderabad.
Akasa in a statement said, “preliminary information indicates that Akasa’s aircraft was stationary when another airline’s aircraft made contact with it.”
