Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax and his wife were found dead inside their home on April 16, the Fairfax County Police Department reported.
Police Chief Ken Davis confirmed the deaths to reporters.
Davis said the case is being investigated as a potential murder-suicide and that Justin Fairfax apparently shot his wife Cerina Fairfax before shooting himself.
"This has been on ongoing domestic dispute surrounding what seems to be a complicated or messy divorce," Davis said during a press conference outside the home.
