Skip to Main ContentAnother Trump Attorney Loses Law License Over 2020 Election SchemeJohn Eastman, the lawyer who played a key role in President Donald Trump's plot to overturn the 2020 election, lost his license to practice law in California on Wednesday after the state's Supreme Court rejected his final attempt at appealing his disbarment. Eastman is also required to pay $5,000 to the California State Bar. Eastman represented Trump in some of his legal efforts to overturn the election and joined the president in speaking at the rally preceding the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. He also wrote the infamous memos outlining a plan to declare Trump the winner and falsely insisting that then-Vice President Mike Pence had the constitutional authority to block the certification of the election. Trump pardoned Eastman last year even though he only faced state charges for his role in the president's scheme.Eastman now joins the ranks of former Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Kenneth Chesebro, both of whom were disbarred for their roles in the election scheme. Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis had her Colorado license suspended for three years in 2024 after pleading guilty to felony charges related to the election efforts.See All UpdatesClose
