The local court in Rajamahendravaram on Wednesday cancelled the petition filed by Ananta Lakshmi Durga, wife of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLC Ananta Satya Udaya Bhaskar, to exclude her name as the second accused in the 2022 case of murder of a Dalit youth.

On February 2, 2022, the Sarpavaram police (Kakinada district) had filed a chargesheet against Lakshmi Durga as the second accused in the murder of 26-year-old Dalit youth Veedhi Subramanyam, who was also the former driver of the YSRCP MLC.

Ananta Satya Udaya Bhaskar, meanwhile, is the prime accused in the alleged murder of Subramanyam on May 19, 2022.

In her verdict, Judge Sunitha Gandham stated; “Having considered the material produced by the prosecution, including the statements of material witnesses, reports of scientific experts, reports of nodal officers and without touching the probative value of the materials, this court, without any doubt, came to conclusion that the material ex faciedisclose grave suspicion against the petitioner/accused No.2 so as to frame charge against her and as such, declined to allow the petition and such a course sub-serves the ends of justice.”
