Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel and Mandya MP H. D. Kumaraswamy described the late Sri Balagangadharanatha swamiji as an ‘immortal guiding force’ in Karnataka’s spiritual and social landscape, highlighting his contributions to education, healthcare, and environmental conservation.
Speaking at Adichunchanagiri during the inauguration of the seer’s memorial — Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira — on April 15, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the Adichunchanagiri Mutt had emerged as a global centre of learning and service under the late seer’s leadership.
He noted that the late seer had worked extensively for the upliftment of the poor by providing access to education, shelter, and healthcare, and had taken quality medical services to rural areas, benefiting underprivileged communities.
Highlighting his environmental efforts, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the late seer had spearheaded large-scale afforestation initiatives, planting nearly five crore saplings, many of which have now grown into full-fledged trees.
Describing the mutt as a symbol of service and spiritual tradition, he said it continues to serve as a guiding force by blending ancient values with modern development.
