April 14 (UPI) -- An Australian man was certified by Guinness World Records as the oldest first-time grandfather at the age of 91.

The record-keeping organization said Charles Smith was 91 years and 209 days old when his granddaughter, Isla, was born to his son, Ashley, and daughter-in-law, Hanna.

Smith, who was 55 when Ashley was born, said he and Isla formed a fast bond.

"All I can say is I picked her up and didn't want to give her back. Except for the nappy changes," Smith told Guinness World Records.

Ashley Smith said his father is impressive in more ways than just being a Guinness World Record-holder.
