The Nespresso Vertuo is a step-up from its Pop series of machines for the more experienced coffee drinker.

The Vertuo has a 40-ounce water tank (compared to the Pop’s 25-ounce), takes just 25 seconds to heat up and can brew 5- and 8-ounce coffees or single and double espresso shots. Nespresso packages its Vertuo machine with recipe cards if you prefer your drinks iced, or if you’d like to try your hand at making a latte, and even gives you a complimentary coffee starter kit to find your favorite flavors. It’s like having “my own personal barista.”

It’s also delightfully quieter than other pod machines. “With every cup of coffee we make, we are shocked at how quiet it is after years of ear-splitting noise,” says user L. Clark. “We love it, and the coffee is as yummy as can be.”

Don’t let the pod capsules fool you; these drinks are flavorful and delicious. Or, as one reviewer puts it, it’s “like a Keurig, but then again, it’s not.”

Personally speaking, I think Keurig pods are mediocre at best — they often taste stale, sacrifice taste for convenience and are my last resort when I’m in a waiting room. Nespresso, by comparison, blows the competitors out of the water, which also gives it slightly higher pricing, but that extra cost is more than worth it.
