Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala here on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) expressed strong confidence that the United Democratic Front (UDF) will come to power in Kerala with a massive majority, driven by a widespread desire for political change.

Interacting with mediapersons here, he credited the UDF’s momentum to the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, highlighting his continuous involvement, strategic direction, and close monitoring of campaign activities. Along with Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and the Congress president Rahul Gandhi ensured unity within the party and coordinated efforts across all levels.

Mr. Chennithala dismissed the CPI(M)’s internal assessments as inflated, saying they were aimed at maintaining cadre morale. “The people of Kerala do not want this government to continue after ten years. There is a clear and natural demand for change,” he said.

He pointed to strong anti-incumbency sentiment against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, noting that public discontent was evident across districts during the campaign. “We are aiming for 100 seats. The scale of victory will be clear on counting day,” he added.

Taking aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mr. Chennithala condemned remarks and actions against Christian bishops, clergy, and nuns, calling them unacceptable in a democratic society. He asserted that any attempt to target religious institutions or replicate incidents of violence against Christians seen in other parts of the country would be strongly resisted in Kerala.
