Donald Trump ultimately deleted the artificial intelligence-generated image, which, according to many observers, depicted him as Christ healing a sick person in front of an American flag and fighter jets. "It wasn't a picture [of me as Christ]," Trump claimed on Monday, April 13. "I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with the Red Cross. There's a Red Cross worker there, which we support. Only the fake news could come up with that one."

Faced with the uproar, the president backed down, as he did in February after posting a video caricaturing Barack and Michelle Obama as apes. The image of Trump as a healing Christ had been preceded by a vehement post against the pope, who had just condemned the US president's policy in Iran. "I don't want a Pope who thinks it's OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon," Trump had accused in a Truth Social post on Sunday.
