Asha Bhosle, one of Indian cinema’s most recorded voices, was cremated with state honours at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Monday (April 13, 2026). Bhosle passed away on April 12, 2026 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. She was 92.
Her funeral drew political leaders, film industry figures, and members of the public.
Bhosle’s mortal remains were kept at her residence in Lower Parel in the morning. Members of the music fraternity, artists, and politicians visited to pay their respects. Later, her mortal remains were taken in a procession to Shivaji Park. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his deputies Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar attended the ceremony.

Bhosle’s sister Usha Mangeshkar and actors Aamir Khan and Vicky Kaushal were among those present. Singer Shaan performed a song as a tribute to Bhosle. The Mumbai Police offered a guard of honour. Bhosle’s son, Anand Bhosle, lit the funeral pyre.
