Two probationary Indian Motor Vehicle Inspectors and a private lorry driver were caught red-handed taking a bribe in Bengaluru, the Lokayukta Police said.

The accused have been identified as Kiran S.P. (37) and Dinesh Kumar D.K. (48), both probationary IMV Inspectors posted at Nelamangala RTO, along with a private individual, Ramesh (40), a lorry driver from Nelamangala taluk.

The complainant, Prashant Dattatray Jadhav (34), is a resident of Kharghar in Maharashtra. He approached authorities alleging that officials had demanded a bribe to allow his vehicle to pass through the NICE Road toll plaza.

Investigators said the accused had allegedly demanded ₹30,000 to let the vehicle pass. The two officials had allegedly taken ₹2,000 via Google Pay and ₹1,000 in cash before the Lokayukta Police came into the picture. The Lokayukta Police caught the third accused red-handed while taking an additional ₹300 as part of the bribe amount.

As per the complainant, he was expected to pay the remainder of the money after his vehicle was cleared to pass.
