Director General of Police, Haryana, Ajay Singhal, issued a warning on Saturday to those promoting gun culture and objectionable or misleading content on social media, stating that such content would not be tolerated and that strict action would be taken against the offenders.

A total of 6,083 objectionable, misleading, and law-and-order-disturbing URLs, content, apps, and websites have been taken down this year so far. Of these, 4,278 were linked to Meta (Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp); 1,172 to YouTube; 372 to X (formerly Twitter); 167 to other platforms; 53 to Telegram; 36 to Reddit; and 5 to Snapchat.

The DGP stated that strict action would be taken against content glorifying weapons, promoting violence, displaying obscene content involving women, portraying children and girls in an indecent and objectionable manner, and disseminating fake content that presents a negative image of Haryana and its people. He clarified that such activities not only hurt social values but also harm the peace and harmony of the State.

“Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was also serious about this issue, and the State Government was committed to maintaining a positive social environment,” said Mr. Singhal.
