Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, on Saturday (April 11, 2026) said that due to fear of getting into the trap of the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Directorate of Enforcement, leaders of the Janata Dal (United) conspired against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to force him to step down.

He also claimed that the decision regarding the Chief Minister’s resignation had been made much earlier, during the Assembly election itself, but leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not reveal it.

“Since the beginning of the Assembly election, I was telling everyone that these people [BJP] will not allow him to continue in the post of the CM. These people did not dare to reveal it during the election. Whatever is happening today was decided secretly, much in advance,” Mr. Yadav said while speaking to the press.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal leader asserted that the development was against the wishes and desires of Mr. Kumar. “The big leaders in the JD(U) have compromised with the BJP due to fear of CBI and ED, and they are the ones who conspired against Nitish ji,” Mr. Yadav said.

He also raised apprehensions that in the days to come the BJP may swallow the JD(U). “Let JD(U) understand whether BJP will finish or swallow JD(U),” the RJD leader said.
