A private waste segregation godown inside Phase-III of SIPCOT complex in Ranipet town on Friday was gutted after fire broke out in the facility, resulting in thick smoke in the area.
The police said that it was around 3 p.m when a few workers in the complex noticed thick smoke coming from the godown. Immediately, along with other workers, they tried to douse the fire, but it spread to the entire godown.
On being informed, a 10-member fire fighters’ team from SIPCOT and Ranipet town rushed to the spot and doused it. B
Estimates of destroyed goods in the godown are being done .
A case was registered by Ranipet SIPCOT police. The police said that the cause of the accident is being ascertained. A probe is under way.
