I’ve always liked the concept of using a reusable straw tumbler to tote around my water on the go — sipping is quicker and easier than screwing off a lid. But one ick factor keeps me from making the leap: Most straw tumblers keep the straw externally exposed in the open air, meaning it’s picking up germs or dust... that you’re then touching with your mouth. Ew. That’s why I’ve always instead opted for a bottle with a screw-top or flip-top cap, but Brümate’s newest take on the straw tumbler may just change my mind.

Many reviewers of the Era Flip tumbler, which launched in March, had similar gripes with the exposed straws of other bottles. “It attracts dust and dirt in the air like a magnet, especially at my workplace,” one said. Then, they bought the Flip. “The Flip addresses and perfects the semi-leakproof design of the original flaw perfectly: the flip-top magnetic-retained lid secures and hides the straw from the dirt and dust that’s plagued my original daily tumbler.”

“The Era Flip is honestly a game changer,” another shared. “I’ve used some of the other brands, and the uncovered flip-down straws always kind of grossed me out. With the Era Flip, the straw is completely covered, so I don’t have to think twice about bringing it to places like the hospital or the gym.”
