After working quietly behind the scenes, Pakistan is preparing to receive both American and Iranian delegations for peace talks on Friday, April 10, right in the heart of Islamabad. Security has been tightened starting on Thursday, with military and paramilitary forces deployed across the capital. Roads leading to districts housing embassies and ministries were sealed off.
At the negotiating table, the Americans will be represented by Vice President JD Vance and Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The Iranian delegation will include Parliament President Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to an official Pakistani source.
For Islamabad, the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the US, clinched at the last moment on Tuesday, April 7, was fragile but representedm i ic ich icha ichae ichael ichae icha ich ic i a diplomatic triumph. "This is a moment of pride for the country's 240 million people," said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, April 8.
