Two months after a 25-year-old biker died after falling into an uncovered pit in Janakpuri, the police on Wednesday filed an 877-page chargesheet naming three accused and detailing alleged negligence related to a Delhi Jal Board (DJB) construction project.
The incident occurred on the night of February 5, when 25-year-old Kamal Dhyani was returning home from work in Rohini. He died after falling into a 15-foot-deep pit dug by the DJB.
The chargesheet was submitted before Judicial Magistrate First Class Harjot Singh Aujla, who has listed the matter for consideration on April 30. According to sources, the police have invoked charges of culpable homicide, disappearance of evidence, criminal conspiracy and others against Himanshu Gupta, 45, a suspended director of the contracting firm KKSPUN Private Limited, Rajesh Kumar, 47, a sub-contractor linked to the project, and Yogesh, 23, a labourer working at the site.
The chargesheet includes details of the accused’s responsibilities, their contractual arrangements, and the conditions and coordination at the construction site during the incident. It also mentions factors such as adherence to safety regulations, labour deployment, and the methods used to carry out the work.
