A woman working at a petrol bunk on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna Highway in Maharashtra was murdered by an unidentified man on Thursday (April 9, 2026) afternoon. The police have registered a case and are examining CCTV footages to identify the assailant.

The incident took place around 1.30 p.m. at a fuel station located approximately 25 km from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city. A man arrived in a two-wheeler and attacked the woman, Pooja Gavande, aged about 30. She died on the spot.

The attacker fled immediately after the crime. The inspector of the Karmad Police Station, Samratsingh Rajput, reached the site with his team. The body was to be sent to the District Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for a post-mortem examination.

The police have started gathering information from other employees and petrol pump operators. Their probe is focused on whether the victim had any dispute with anyone, the nature of her relationship with the attacker, possible property issue, and details of her household. Teams have been formed to trace the assailant. The police are also attempting to obtain CCTV footages from the area.
