The investigation into the killing of two Meitei children in a “bomb attack” in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on April 7 is likely to be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a senior government official said on Thursday. Their father is a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan.
The official said the attackers had not been identified so far and all aspects were being looked into.

At a unified command meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on April 8, it was decided that curfew would continue in the valley districts. Security forces and police were asked to be more visible on the streets. The meeting discussed the protection of properties and residences of MLAs, which may be targeted by the local people.
A total shutdown was observed on Thursday in the valley areas, including Imphal, and rallies were organised to protest the killings. Internet remained suspended for the third consecutive day.
