In an inspiring example of determination overcoming adversity, a life convict lodged in Ballari Central Prison has secured 80.1% marks in the II PU examination.

Ashok Kumar S., who appeared for the examination under prison escort, scored 481 out of 600 marks and passed in First Class, according to his marks card released by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board.

He scored 82 marks in Kannada and 69 in English. In the core subjects, he secured 94 in History, 84 in Economics, 77 in Sociology and 75 in Political Science.

Director-General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services) Alok Kumar lauded the achievement in a post on X, describing it as a sign of hope and transformation.

“It is heartening to see that one of our life convict prisoners, Ashok, has obtained 80.1% marks in the PU exam. He appeared under prison escort from Ballari Central Prison for his exam... Glad to see that the walls of the prison have not subdued his hopes for a better future,” he said.
