April 9 (UPI) -- Connor McDavid logged his third hat trick of 2025-26 and tied his season-high with five points in an Edmonton Oilers win over the San Jose Sharks.
The All-Star forward scored off a first-period power play before adding two goals in the bridge frame of the 5-2 triumph Wednesday in San Jose, Calif. McDavid's Oilers scored three times off power plays.
"It was a big two points," McDavid told reporters. "I thought everybody played really well. Personally, I got a couple bounces early, which always helps.
"Fun game."
Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini, McDavid's Olympics teammate with Canada, lit the lamp for the game's first score 4:27 into the first period. Less than two minutes later, McDavid answered by beating Sharks goalie Alex Nedeljkovic with a power-play score.
