A parking garage collapse in Grays Ferry killed one and injured two Wednesday afternoon as responders worked through the night in a search and rescue mission for two people that were unaccounted for.

In an evening news conference by Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker and other emergency response officials Wednesday, the mayor confirmed the fatality as well as the missing status of two other people.

"As a praying mayor, I want you to know that all of our prayers are with the families of the individual who passed and also the families of the two people who remain missing," Parker said.

"We are not — we will not give up on these individuals," the mayor continued, saying, "We will not rest until everyone is accounted for."

City Fire Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson confirmed that two other individuals had been treated and released at a local hospital.
