French President Emmanuel Macron, in Rome for his first meeting with Pope Leo XIV Friday, will visit the lay Catholic charitable, humanitarian and diplomatic Community of Sant'Egidio in Rome Thursday evening, ANSA sources said.
Macron will spend an hour and a half at the headquarters of the so-called Trastevere UN, whose work Macron is well-versed in on various fronts, especially in the humanitarian field and support for migrants.
He will be welcomed by President Marco Impagliazzo and its founder, historian Andrea Riccardi.
The French president will be accompanied by a large delegation, including Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot .
Macron's first official visit to the new pontiff will be a visit of peace, sources at the Elysee Palace said Wednesday.
