A15-day-old newborn boy was found among drugs and trash in an apartment in Rome Thursday and her mother's partner was arrested, police said.
The woman was cited.
The search was triggered because the baby had been taken away from medical staff by his mother immediately after birth, preventing him from receiving necessary treatment.
He was sleeping on a mattress on a dirty floor, completely naked, surrounded by trash and mould, police said.
Approximately 5 kilos of marijuana and hashish were also found in the home.
