The daughter of an American woman reported missing while boating with her husband in the Bahamas is questioning her stepfather’s involvement, while accusing him of having a violent past that includes once threatening to throw her overboard.
“It just doesn’t add up,” Karli Aylesworth told Fox News of the story that Lynette Hooker’s husband, Brian Hooker, allegedly gave to police early Saturday morning following her mysterious disappearance at sea.
According to police, the husband said they were traveling from Hope Town to Elbow Cay around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when his wife allegedly fell off their dinghy with their boat key and was carried away by strong currents.
Without the key, the engine on the 8-foot, hard-bottom dinghy turned off, so the man said he paddled the vessel to shore, where he reported his wife missing around 4 a.m., the Royal Bahamas Police Force said in a statement that omitted the couple’s names.
Aylesworth questioned that retelling of events, saying her mother was a strong, physically fit swimmer and wouldn’t have been holding the boat key, since her husband always drove. She also claimed her stepfather had been violent in the past, against her mother and one of his daughters.
