Michael Moore on Tuesday slammed Democrats and their “so-called ‘opposition party’” as “cowards” and, in the precarious hours before President Donald Trump announced a two-week U.S.-Iran ceasefire, accused them in a Substack post of actually supporting the war.

“The so-called ‘opposition party’ in the U.S. — the party that initiated and continues to enable the genocide in Gaza and whose Senate ‘Leader’ Chuck Schumer taunted Trump last year to be more aggressive with Iran — stands by now and watches this in horror,” he wrote. “Not simply because they are cowards, but because Democratic leadership actually supports this war. NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE US. WE MUST DO IT OURSELVES. THIS MADNESS MUST STOP.”

Moore went on to urge U.S. military leaders to disobey illegal or immoral orders from Trump, who threatened a “whole civilization will die” if Iran didn’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. eastern.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) criticized Trump last year in a social media video for “folding on Iran” and urged, “No side deals.” Trump ordered U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities later that month, famously stating afterwards they were “obliterated.”

Moore linked to the video Tuesday after noting how essential Iran has been to human history, calling it “the cradle of one of the greatest civilizations” that had “already written the world’s first declaration of human rights” while Europeans were still “figuring out how to build a hut.”
