General Motors is recalling over 270,000 vehicles due to a malfunction in the rearview camera that could raise a driver's risk of a crash, according to a notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"A rearview image that does not display correctly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash," according to the recall notice.

GM has identified an issue with the process used to assemble the camera housing, where the adhesive bond could weaken in some assemblies, allowing moisture to breach the housing and affect the camera, the recall notice stated.
