Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday tried to get Donald Trump on the phone during an appearance in Hungary, but the president initially didn’t pick up. (Check out the awkward moment in the clip below.)

To kick off his remarks at a campaign rally for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán (an ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin), Vance pulled a phone out of his pocket and noted he had a “special guest” who wanted to dial in.

“We’ll see — let’s hope he actually answers or this is going to be very embarrassing,” Vance said, as members of the crowd began taking out their smart devices in anticipation.

Unfortunately for Vance, his first bud didn’t get on the horn.

“I’m sorry, the person you’re trying to reach has a voicemail box that has not been set up yet. Please try —,” a robotic voice from Vance’s phone said as the veep awkwardly turned his device toward the microphones.
