President Donald Trump warned that “a whole civilisation will die” in Iran on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) if the country does not heed his ultimatum to accept U.S. war demands. “A whole civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Mr. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Mr. Trump did not give details, but he has already said the U.S. military could bomb Iran’s bridges, power plants and other civilian infrastructure into the “stone age”. Mr. Trump has announced a deadline of midnight GMT on Tuesday (April 7) for Iran to end its de facto closing of the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow, strategic waterway used to transport oil and other commodities.

On Monday (April 6), he said a temporary cease-fire proposal being circulated was insufficient.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) warned the neighbouring countries and said that the response will be “beyond the region” if the U.S. crosses red lines. Iranian officials have also urged youths to form human chains around power plants to protect them, as the latest deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz drew closer.
