Drivers are reeling from escalating gas prices that have skyrocketed since the beginning of the Iran war.

The national average gas price rose to $4.12 per gallon on April 6, according to the AAA Auto Club. That figure is up from a national average of $3.32 one month ago on March 6.

“Gasoline prices are poised for another jolt this week, with many inland states — including the Plains, Great Lakes, and parts of the Rockies — likely to see sharp increases as last week’s surge in wholesale costs has yet to be fully passed through to consumers,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in an April 6 blog post.

De Haan said some markets could see further increases this week, writing that with another round of spikes, "the national average could rise by double digits, potentially reaching the $4.20 to $4.35 per gallon range in the days ahead."

"Recent escalations between the U.S. and Iran have further intensified concerns about prolonged disruptions to global oil flows, keeping markets on edge," De Haan wrote.
