Members of the core committee of sanitation workers’ unions of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) met Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday and raised issues related to recruitment and regularisation.
They highlighted concerns regarding workplace safety, wage-related grievances and service conditions. They also sought improved healthcare facilities and permanent employment in a dignified working environment.
Responding to the concerns, Ms. Gupta said “the government stands firmly” with sanitation workers.
She directed the concerned departments to review the issues raised and ensure prompt action to improve working conditions, safety and dignity for workers.
“Sanitation workers play a crucial role in keeping the city clean and functional, and protecting their interests remains a top priority for the government,” Ms. Gupta said.
