Cleaning the floor has always been one of my least favorite chores. I dread vacuuming, and put off mopping or Swiffering my bathroom and kitchen tile floors. But when it comes to cleaning my hardwood floors, it couldn’t be easier, and that’s all thanks to my trusty Bona spray mop and hardwood floor cleaner.
The spray mop comes with a refillable cartridge that gets stored upside down, with a spray mechanism activated by pulling on the handle trigger. The cartridge comes prefilled with the Bona cleaner, making it easy to get started cleaning immediately.
The bottom of the mop is a microfiber cleaning pad that’s reusable and can be chucked in the washing machine to clean it up to 500 times. (Note that the pad in my photos above is not the original one. I actually used it enough to necessitate buying a new one and went with an off-brand version that was slightly cheaper in a three-pack, but that’s after years of using the original included pad.)
I love my Bona; compared to my other floor cleaning methods, it’s so much simpler and quicker to use. The pad is much larger than a Swiffer (and doesn’t require adhering and then throwing out a new wet pad each time), and the spray trigger makes it far easier to apply the cleaner and mop it up than traditional mopping with a bucket. I don’t have to bend down, can cover a lot of surface area quickly and barely have to wait for the floor to dry because the spray is a fine mist that distributes just the right amount each time. It also does what it’s advertised to do: My floors are always shining after I use it, and the pad picks up a ton of dust and dirt I could barely even see before.
