Electioneering has gained momentum in Tiruchi, with major political fronts intensifying campaigns through street-level visits and candidate introductions.
Almost all candidates of the DMK, the AIADMK, the TVK, and the NTK have filed their nomination papers.
Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru (Tiruchi West), Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi (Tiruverumbur), S. Inigo Irudayaraj (Tiruchi East), T. Parivallal (Lalgudi), S. Kathiravan (Manachanallur) and P. Abdul Samadhu (Manapparai) filed their nominations on behalf of the DMK so far. R. Manoharan (Srirangam), G. Rajasekaran (Tiruchi East), E. Saroja (Thuraiyur) and R.V. Barathan (Mannachanallur) have submitted their nominations on behalf of the AIADMK.
C. Joseph Vijay (Tiruchi East), Ku. Pa. Krishnan (Lalgudi) and most of the candidates of TVK of nine constituencies in the district have filed their nominations. Similarly, the candidates of NTK, including Rajesh (Tiruverumbur), have also submitted their nominations with the respective Returning Officers. Monday is the last date for filing nominations.
Most of the candidates such as Mr. Nehru, Mr. Poyyamozhi, Mr. Manoharan, and Mr. Rajasekaran spent the last few days in meeting the important personalities, religious leaders, and others to seek their blessing and support. Several of them have framed a detailed campaign to cover as many streets and villages as possible before campaigning closes on April 21. Candidates of key candidates have begun visiting Assembly segments such as Tiruchi East, Tiruchi West, Srirangam, Manachanallur, Manapparai, and Tiruverumbur.
