DUBAI: The UAE condemned on Saturday what it described as “riots, acts of vandalism, and assaults” outside its embassy and the residence of the head of its mission in Syria's capital Damascus.

“The United Arab Emirates expresses its strongest condemnation and denunciation of the riots, acts of vandalism, and assaults that targeted our mission's headquarters and the residence of the head of the mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus,” the foreign ministry said Saturday.

The statement affirmed the UAE's “rejection and condemnation of the unacceptable insults directed at the national symbols of the state,” as carried on WAM News Agency.

The UAE called on Syria to fulfill its obligations ⁠to secure the embassy ‌and ‌its staff, ‌investigate the circumstances surrounding ‌the incident and ensure it is not repeated.
