April 3 (UPI) -- Saturday's Santa Anita Derby, Wood Memorial at Aqueduct and Blue Grass at Keeneland all but wrap up the Kentucky Derby prep season and tentatively set the 20-horse field for the May 2 Run for the Roses.

All that's left after those big three finals are the smattering of "Road to the Kentucky Derby" points available from the Lexington Stakes on April 11 at Keeneland and the seeming inevitable defections from the field. The Kentucky Derby is just four weeks from Saturday.

The Kentucky Oaks field will be solidified, too, and Keeneland's opening weekend, even taking Sunday off for Easter, has the usual bundle of choice handicapping challenges.

The Road to the Roses

Opening weekend of the spring meeting at Keeneland features a dandy renewal of the $1.25 million Grade I Toyota Blue Grass.
