More than a month after four headload workers were killed in the collapse of a concrete slab at an old godown owned by the Kozhikode Corporation in Valiyangadi, a portion of the sunshade of another ageing building owned by the civic body caved in on Moideen Palli road on Thursday.

No injuries were reported. The incident happened around 5.30 p.m. Locals said the building was in use at the time, with a shop functioning there when the incident occurred.

Meanwhile, Corporation secretary N.K. Hareesh said that the building was fully intact. “I went there in person. It was actually a sheet extended from the sunshade by the shopkeepers that fell. There is no issue with the building itself,” he said.
