A former "Dancing with the Stars" participant recalled her experience being on the Air Canada jet that collided with a fire truck while landing at New York's LaGuardia Airport on March 22, killing both pilots, injuring dozens of people on board and shutting down the busy airport.

Charlotte Jørgensen, who was a pro on the first season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," in a March 30 post on Instagram detailed her harrowing experience and thanked the two pilots who died in the collision for making the "ultimate sacrifice so that we all could live."

"A week ago tonight, after a fabulous weekend in Montreal, I boarded Air Canada 8646 bound for La Guardia NYC," Jørgensen, 54, wrote in her post, which also included a photo of the collision. "I owe my life to two brave souls Captain Antoine Forest and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther."

Jørgensen said that on the night of the incident she "felt nothing as adrenaline was rushing through my body but the days after has been tough – physically, mentally and emotionally."

The professional dancer added that while she is home now, with her family "taking good care" of her, she "will be taking time to heal." Jørgensen did not detail if she sustained any injuries.
