Seven persons were arrested by Chandanagar police for allegedly cheating and illegally encroaching government land, following a probe into large-scale forgery to acquire land earmarked for public use.

The accused have been identified as Neruti Niranjan, N. Venu Kumar, M. Kranthi Kumar, Raju Ravi Selvaraj, Syed Yousuf, Md Azher Ali and Madham Suman.

Police said the accused trespassed into government land in Survey Nos. 373, 374 and 375 of Chandanagar village under Serilingampally, which belongs to the Social Welfare Department and meant for housing the weaker sections.

The accused fabricated GHMC house numbers, created fake photographs of non-existent structures and generated forged PTIN numbers. They also executed fraudulent registered sale deeds to claim ownership over the land.

The case was registered on October 28, 2025, based on a complaint. The arrested accused were produced in court for judicial remand. Further investigation is on.
