We’re not supposed to be running around doing this anymore,” Jones said in an episode earlier in March, alleging Trump broke his “America First” campaign promise of no more endless wars. “Trump ran on not doing regime change,” Jones said, adding, “You don’t tell us ‘no more regime change’ that we’ve seen the CIA do and many times put worse people in on purpose, and then you turn around and say ‘oh no this is a great thing.’” In another episode in March, Jones said Trump is “pushing away” the anti-war members of the MAGA movement by going to war with Iran, saying he is “raising the alarm” to try and get Trump to change course. How Else Has Alex Jones Turned On Trump?Jones criticized the Trump administration in 2025 over its handling of the Epstein files release. In a video posted to social media in July, Jones broke down in tears after the Justice Department said it found no evidence Jeffrey Epstein had a “client list” that would incriminate powerful people. “The DOJ is running cover for the CIA and Mossad. NO ONE IS BUYING THIS!! Next the DOJ will say ‘Actually, Jeffrey Epstein never even existed,” Jones wrote on X. In the video, Jones said, “I just really need the Trump administration to succeed, and to save this country, and they’re doing so much good. And then for them to do something like this tears my guts out.” Jones previously broke with Trump in 2018 over strikes on Syria, and he criticized Trump in 2021 for urging his supporters to get vaccinated against Covid-19. Key BackgroundJones has long hosted “The Alex Jones Show” and founded Infowars, garnering a reputation for promoting debunked conspiracy theories and spreading false information. He most notably called the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school shooting, in which 20 students and six staff members were killed, a “government operation” with “inside job written all over it.” Families of Sandy Hook victims sued Jones for making defamatory statements about the shooting, and he was found liable in Connecticut and Texas courts. Jones was ordered to pay more than $1.4 billion, with a judge saying his conduct was “intentional and malicious, and certain to cause harm” via his “ability to spread content and massive audience.” Jones filed for bankruptcy in 2022 and called the fine a “financial death penalty.”Further ReadingConspiracy theorist Alex Jones finally turns on Trump for Iran war: ‘It was supposed to be America first’ (The Independent)Alex Jones’ $1.4 Billion Defamation Loss Stands As Supreme Court Rejects Case (Forbes)
