April 1 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump said on Truth Social Wednesday that Iran asked for a cease-fire, but he said he would consider it only if the Strait of Hormuz is "open, free, and clear."
"Iran's New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!! President DJT," the post said.
Trump will also address the country Wednesday night on the war in Iran, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday evening.
Leavitt announced on X Tuesday evening: "TUNE IN: Tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET, President Trump will give an Address to the Nation to provide an important update on Iran."
