Police are probing into the death of a 15-year-old boy from Madhya Pradesh (MP) under suspicious circumstances.

The 15-year-old boy ran away from his home in MP and was loitering at Chennai Central Railway Station. He went to Government Stanley Hospital on November 27, 2025 and got admitted to the hospital himself. He had also alleged that he was sexually assaulted by two unidentified men at Chennai Central Railway Station in Nov 2025.

Following the receipt of information from the hospital staff, Government Railway Police (GRP) registered a case under provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and investigated. A senior police officer said, “We investigated and scrutinised CCTV footage. Our investigation clearly revealed that no sexual assault was committed as claimed by the boy. After treatment, the boy himself retracted his earlier version in his confession. His parents living in MP refused to take him saying that he had frequently run away from the home and also had treatment for anal fissure and urinary infection at a hospital in Bhopal. Hence, he was lodged at a Home for Boys in Royapuram.”

He escaped from the Home for Boys to Kannagi Nagar and later was brought back to the Home. While he was at home, he developed health complications, he was rushed to the Government Stanley Hospital where he died without responding to the treatment. “The local police will investigate the case since it is an unnatural death,” said the police officer. The cause of death can be confirmed only after the post-mortem report, he added.
